400/132/33kV Substation at Kharagpur of Rashmi Metalliks

Scope of Work :

The Scope of Satcon includes the following for Design and Engineering of the 400/132/33kV Step down substation :


a.  Site visit to assess the conditions at the substation plot.

b. Preparation of Project BOQ, Budget and Schedule.

c.  Submission of Key SLD, Substation layout plan and elevation.

d. Submission of Electrical layout plan and elevation of the ECR & SPR.

e.  Submission of Technical specs of electrical equipment like 400kV and 132kV Switchyard equipment, Transformers, Conductors/clamps & connectors/hardware, Insulators, Substation automation system, 33kV Outdoor equipment, Control & Relay panels, Battery and battery chargers, LV AC & DC DBs, Lighting and small power system, Power and control cables, Cable termination kits, Fire detection and alarm system, Firefighting equipment, Fire extinguishers, HVAC and CCTV equipment etc.

f.  Submission of detail engineering drawings and design calculations like, but not limited to :

1.  Protection and metering SLD of the 132/400kV Substation.

2.  SLD of LV AC & DC DBs.

3.  Erection key diagram – Plan & Elevation and BOM.

4.  Clearance diagram of 400kV Switchyard.

5. Earthing layout, BOM and Earthing calculation.

6.  Direct stroke lightning protection layout, BOM and DSLP calculation.

7.  Outdoor cable trench layout, trench sectional details and BOM.

8.  Indoor cable trench layout of ECR & SPR, trench sectional details and BOM.

9.  Indoor and outdoor illumination layout, SLD, BOM and Lighting calculation by Dialux.

10.  Battery ad battery charger sizing calculation.

11.  Sag & Tension calculation.

12. Short circuit force calculation for overhead strung bus and rigid tubular bus.

13. 33kV Power cable sizing calculation.

14. Power and Control cable schedule and Interconnection diagram.

15. Overhead conductor and AL Tube bus sizing calculation.

16.  Load flow study by ETAP upto 33kV level of RML-4.

17. Short circuit study by ETAP upto 33kV level of RML-4.

18. Load flow and short circuit study shall consider the power and fault contribution of RML-1, 2, 3 & 5 units while deciding the rating and size of the 132kV common bus.

19. Protection coordination study and relay setting calculations for 400kV, 132kV and 33kV system of the new substation.

20. Fabrication and shop drawings of 400kV and 132kV gantry towers, beams and equipment support structures. All Equipment support structures shall be pipe type as per PGCIL standard.

21.  Architectural layout plan & elevation of the ECR & SPR.

22.  Geotechnical investigation test layout plan showing the test points.

23. Civil drawings of all Switchyard equipment foundations, cable trenches, internal road, pathways, surface drainage, Transformer oil pits, Burnt oil tank, sump pit for drainage, culvert for cable crossing of road by cable trenches, Switchyard fence and gate.

24.  Civil drawing of foundation, column, beams slabs of ECR & SPR.

25.  Fire detection and alarm system layout with BOM for the ECR & SPR.

26.  Substation Automation system block diagram.

27.  SAS I/O list.

28. Air conditioning and ventilation system layout and BOM for the ECR & SPR.

29. Fire protection system layout and BOQ.

f.  Contour survey of the substation plot and submission of survey drawing.

g.  Bid evaluation of offers and submission of recommendation reports.

h.  Providing clarification to bidders.

i.  Vendor drawing review and approval.

j.  Deputation of engineer at site for supervision of civil work, electromechanical erection, testing and commissioning.

k.  Submission of As built drawings.

l. Inspection of Equipment at manufacturer’s works limited to 5 man days.  

225/30kV New Substation at Bafoula in Gabon

Scope of Work :

The scope of work shall include the following for the installation of 225/30kV Main Receiving Substation (MRSS) at Bafoula, 225kV Transmission Line (10km), and 1x225kV Line Bay Extension at existing Maunda Substation in Gabon :


a. Overall Design Engineering including Civil, Mechanical (HVAC only), Electrical & Instrumentation/ Communication supporting to CCTP (End User spec.) supporting to Project requirement for MRSS & GSS Bay.

b. Review and approval of Steel structural drawings prepared by Solen with respect to structural design calculations of 225kV and 30kV Gantry and Equipment support structures to be prepared by Satcon.

c. Review of Preliminary GTP of major equipments (prepared by Solen).

d. Review of Datasheet/ GTP, Drawing etc. of major Equipments (prepared by manufacturer) for manufacturing.

e. Review of QAP, MQP, Type test report of all major items (prepared by manufacturers).

f. Design and engineering of SCADA/SAS integration among substations as per CCTP.

g. Review, commenting and one time checking of compliance with Satcon’s comments for Transmission Line detail design (Electrical, Civil & Structural) drawings and documents prepared by the supplier.

h. Review, commenting and one time checking of compliance with Satcon’s comments for Balance Transmission Line Design documents (Conductor, OPGW, earth wire, hardware, earthing etc) to be submitted by the supplier.

i. Review of Site ITP, FQP.

j. Inspection of Items FOTE, PLCC, SAS, CRP.

k. Review of Inspection test reports of balance major items.

l. Preparation of Civil BOQ for MCR, Switchyard & GSS area, Mechanical & Electrical BOQ for subcontractor finalization.

m. Review of SAT Test List of Equipments, Pre-commissioning test procedure for substation charging.

n. Review of Test Report (Civil & Electrical).

o. Load flow analysis, Short-circuit calculation and Relay coordination for all relevant protection functions of the interconnecting network/ substations through ETAP software.

p. Visit to Gabon, if required on man day basis. 

q. Deputation of Electrical engineer at site for supervision and assistance in Testing commissioning during site commissioning on man month basis.

230/13.8kV GIS substn of 500MW Data Center in USA

Scope of Work :

The scope of work shall include basic and detailed design and engineering services for electrical, civil, structural, I & C and mechanical works of the 230/13.8kV, 12 x 90MVA (plus 3 nos. Trafo as stand by) GIS substation in Cleveland County, North Carolina, USA. Our services shall include procurement support (Technical specs, Bid evaluation and vendor drawing review), shop drawings and IFCs for the following works of the Substation :

-   230kV Gantry and Switchyard equipment to receive Power from the utility by 2 feeders.

-   230 KV GIS Housed in a Structural PEB.

-   12 x 90MVA Power Transformers with RTCC, Nitrogen injection fire protection system (NIFPS) and online gas analyser + 3 stand by transformers.
